Dive Plan Worksheet - Click here
What is Nitrox? - Nitrox is an enriched air blend. Air
is comprised primarily of 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen. An enriched
air blend will increase the oxygen content anywhere from 22% to 40%.
Why Dive Nitrox? - Nitrox, due to the increased
percentage of oxygen in the air blend, reduces the amount of
nitrogen. The diminished amount of nitrogen in your air blend means
less nitrogen absorbed into your system. Because your body is
absorbing less nitrogen, a longer bottom time is allowed.
EXAMPLE:
Dive to 60 feet
Stay
How Long?
Regular Air (21% oxygen / 79% nitrogen)
55 minutes
Enriched Air Nitrox (32% oxygen / 68% nitrogen)
90 minutes
Enriched Air Nitrox (36% oxygen / 64% nitrogen)
115 minutes
